HYT - Help Your Teens

Here we have four affordable, practical, short, accessible online courses to help parents know and understand their teens more.

HYT was founded by us: Sarah and Nigel. We have over 50 years of experience teaching and mentoring adolescents. Our aim in setting up this website is simple - to help parents of teens and pre-teens. Why? Because we know how hard it can be to parent at this time and because we’re nice people who like to help others!!

HYT will evolve but we will focus every month on one aspect of “teenagedom” - we know there’s no such word but we like it anyway!

Every month we will:
post a couple of times a week on a topic on our FB Page
probably offer a webinar on that topic
consider what to offer that we don't yet - recommendations always welcome!

An example of one of our courses - The Teen and The Family

We think it’s both interesting and important to place the family dynamic within a broad theoretical framework - it really does help understand what is going on.

We also know well the benefit to all when parents reflect, without too much bias and judgement, upon their own teenage years and the relationships in their family at the time.

So, in this brief course we will look at: two ideas concerning how the family might work (social exchange theory and attachment theory); what a secure teenager looks like; some advice for parents on how to support their child's role in the family at this time; and, at the end we pose YOU as parents some questions to consider with regard to your own teenage years in your family how these changes affect their behaviour

This online course is about 35 minutes long and has these advantages:

..is available 24/7 as people will want to look at them at a time that suits them

..all the methodology/advice has been tried and tested over the years with many families so we know it works

The cost of this month’s course is £21 - we won’t compare it to how many bars of chocolate you can buy with £21 but we can definitely assure you that the effects of this course will be longer-lasting than eating chocolate (as lovely as that is)!!
